On two pages of my application to be deputy general secretary of the National Union of Journalists the NUJ incorrectly redacted words I wrote. I have reinstated the words in red because, quite clearly, the words I wrote are not, as was alleged, even remotely defamatory.
The missing words in the jpeg below are:
"Professor Worboys and a solicitors' betrayal."
These words are not defamatory because the context makes clear which of the two Professor Worboys then at the University of Manchester I am talking about, and because I use the plural possesive of the noun solicitors.
The specific wrong doings by Professor Worboys which I am asserting are:
1. Slander of me in front of a third party whose good opinion was essential to me, namely my research supervisor. 2. Refusal to be specific about the allegation that I was not getting on with various groups. Those named in general terms all denied the allegation. 3. Refusal to tell me why he was offering to facilitate my transfer to another University. 4. Cancellation of an agreed meeting of resolution which I had requested, and he agreed to, and this despite the fact I had agreed to all his terms for the meeting. I had no complaint about anyone at CHSTM.
5. Refusal to tell me why he had told me unprompted that the security forces were already on my case. 6. Refusal to let me continue my degree (I was writing a transfer report from M.Phil to Ph.D) even though my GP said there was no reason why I might not do so. 7. Unbeknownst to me he had also violated my privacy by contacting my solicitor, and to this day I do not know how he knew who to contact. I had no reason to think my relationships with CHSTM were not on the whole excellent. I think his behaviour soured otherwise good relationships, that he sought to offload his wrong doing on me, and I have no doubt his behaviour contributed to a bankruptcy which otherwise would not exist. His attitude and actions on and after 16.3.04 devastated me. He blocked all resolution. As far as I am concerned he is a thief and a fraud.
At the time in Spring 2004 of the slander of me, wrong doing against me, and abuse of my privacy I was not working as a journalist, but my academic research did touch on national security in the recent past, namely The Falkland Islands and Argentina, and my paid work as an author had also dealt tangentially with issues of national security in the present, and my work as a journalist and author had definately brushed hard up againt national security in the present. So being told by my head of department that the security forces were on my case was deeply and rationally frightening. For the record the Police and security forces had not, and have not, told me of any problem.

The next jpeg below also contains redactions. All of these redactions are, actually, libellous of me, but I have no intention of sueing the NUJ. I am highlighting in red what the redacted words are. And it is, quite frankly, outrageous to seek to redact the name of the Official Receiver or imply use of his name in context could possibly be viewed as defamatory.
... I allege, the fault of profoundly sexist and ageist behaviour in and from 2004 by W.Y.Police and by the medical profession and of dishonest words and behaviour in and from 2004 by professor Michael Worboys, CHSTM, University of Manchester and of solicitors. I was also discharged automatically without restriction orders from bankruptcy on 8.11.07, and reached agreement, recorded with his consent, with Mr David Henry, the then Leeds-based official receiver and my trustee in bankruptcy, that my aim was annulment of bankruptcy. There is no compunction on me to do so.
