The publisher's (The publisher is Helen Gavaghan, trading as GavaghanCommunications) recommendation as of 30.11.09 to the board of Science, People and Politics Ltd. (Co. No. 0590-1911), registered in England and Wales, is that the title, Science, People & Politics ISSN 1751-598X, continues to remain openly accessible on line without the need for registration with the site.
The publisher (Helen Gavaghan) recommends, as discussed informally by phone with managing director, Fred Pearce, that the title be made available for sale in print form or on encrypted memory stick two months before the title becomes available on line. That is, though the title will always be openly accessible without need for registration with the site, that open accessibility will commence only two months after the print or encrypted electronic version has been distributed by post to customers, and customers will be sought internationally. So the proposed evolution of the business model is that the previous bimonthly issue is made openly available on line on the day that the current issue is scheduled for distribution by post.
The open accessibility to the bimonthly title, Science, People & Politics (ISSN1751-598X) will not require an individual to be a customer, and, as a publisher, I remain of the view that I do not need to know who my readers are.
I do, however, think that I need to know who my visitors to the hosting website are if I am to compete with companies, such as Google, whose advertising I am publishing.
